About Bud and Eunice Williams

Many folks in the cattle industry know Bud & Eunice Williams for their revolutionary stockmanship techniques, but they are also the creators of a brilliant cattle marketing method. The seeds of the Williams Method were sowed during Bud's childhood in Southern Oregon during the Great Depression, as he watched his father adeptly market livestock, and keep the family farm afloat. Bud & Eunice married in 1952 and together journeyed the globe applying and teaching others their enlightened livestock handling techniques. All the while, Bud continued to develop and apply his unique Marketing Method over the course of their travels, including their eleven-year tenure at Vee Tee Feeders in Alberta, Canada.

After relocating back to the U.S., Bud & Eunice decided to put on Marketing Schools in conjunction with Allan Nation, publisher of The Stockman Grass Farmer. These schools, held in 2002 and 2003, were very well received by the ranching community. However, Bud & Eunice decided to retire from both Stockmanship and Marketing Schools at the end of 2003. That didn't last long.

In July of 2004, Bud & Eunice attended a bank function featuring a talk on the cattle markets by their commodity broker, Ann Barnhardt, from Denver, CO. Bud & Eunice were impressed with Ann's delivery and presentation. It then occurred to them that Ann would be the perfect candidate to learn and eventually carry on the Williams Marketing Method. Ann also had experience with webpage development and administration that would mesh perfectly with Bud & Eunice's long-time goal of providing continuing support for marketing school graduates.

Ann spent Labor Day weekend of 2004 at Bud & Eunice's home on the Addison Ranch in Bowie, TX learning Bud's Marketing Method. In November of 2004, Ann participated in her first two marketing schools with Bud & Eunice firmly at the helm. Both were great successes, and the attendees were all very excited about the prospect of a supporting website. Now the website has come to fruition and Bud, Eunice & Ann are looking forward to many, many years of collaboration on this worthwhile and rewarding endeavor.

Bud Williams Marketing Schools

Bud Williams Marketing Schools are two day seminars for cattlemen who are looking to improve their business model and focus on profitability. All cattle industry segments, operation sizes and geographical origins are welcome and can greatly benefit from the Williams Marketing Method. Just some of the concepts covered at Bud Williams Marketing Schools include:
  • How to maximize cash flow while minimizing market risk. The cash flow from a feeder cattle operation can be just as regular as any job, and just as secure.
  • How to identify the best buys in today's cattle market.
  • How to identify the classes of cattle that are the most overpriced and should be sold immediately.
  • How to get the best prices for less than truckload lots.
  • How to use sell-buy risk management in highly seasonal environments.
  • How to maximize cash flow from a breeding herd.
  • Why you should always sell expensive cattle and replace them with cheap cattle.
  • Why grass in reserve is as good as money in the bank.
  • How to know if owning cattle through the feedlot will pay before you do it.
